1820 Half Sovereign
The half sovereign of 1820 is the rarest of the George III reign owing to the low mintage number of just 35,043 and will be a difficult coin to source in any grade and good grade examples will be very seldom seen. There is a slight variation in the size of the 0 in the date on the currency variety. There is also a significant pattern variety which attracts a Rare 5 scarcity number, so likely only 5-10 examples have survived.

1820 One Sovereign
There were several varieties of one sovereigns of 1820 and mintage numbers were relatively high at 2,101,996, so securing a reasonable example shouldn't prove too difficult. The many varieties offer the collector the chance of securing an interesting option to colour a collection, with the compact date closed 2 (Marsh 4B) being our favourite! It's worth noting that the mintage numbers for 1820 sovereigns include a number of coins that were minted in the first year of George IV reign, as the dies continued to be used in this period.
