1819 One Sovereign

Both the Obverse & Reverse are by Benedetto Pistrucci, the Reverse featuring the iconic George & Dragon, a true masterpiece which has featured regularly on the sovereign up and until the present day. The 1819 sovereign has a super low mintage of just 3,574 coins with only around 10 known examples in existence, making it one of the rarest of the sovereign series. Coins graded fine will still achieve circa £100,000, with the finest know example (almost EF) selling for £186,000 in the Bentley collection sale of May 2013. There is rumoured to be a proof example of the 1819 sovereign, but this has not been verified.
